Expansion kit for Settlers of Catan?
Hello, I just bought an expasion kit for Seafarers (for 5-6 players) but haven't used it yet. My question is this: do I _also_ need an expansion kit for the basic Settlers game to use the expansion for Seafarers?
Do you have the Seafarers expansion? Or just the expansion for Seafarers for 5-6 players? because they're two different things.
Seafarers of Catan is the expansion that you need to add seafaring to the basic Catan game(best way I could think of to say it, sorry if it sounds condescending) The Seafarers 5-6 Player Expansion is for when you already own Seafarers and want to add more players to the game. So if you only have the 5-6 player expansion you won't be able to play Seafarers because you don't have the expansion that lets you set up for that expansion.
That is totally confusing. I would agree with the previous answerer however that Catan in any form is best with 4 players at max. I don't know if you'd need the Settlers expansion to let you play the Seafarers expansion, but probably. It looks like you only get boats with the expansion so you'd need a 5-6 player expansion for Settlers to get the roads and houses/cities for the original game.
