Backgammon Rules?
When you’re playing backgammon and there are two possible moves and the first combination of moves allows you to move both checkers but the second only one checker hare you required to make the move that moves both checkers or can you move yourself into a position to block your second move?
The scenario that came up lat night was that it was more beneficial for me to not move my second checker because I wanted to stay in a position to knock off my opponent as that would be the only way I would win. If I took the combination that moved both checkers he would be free and clear of me being able to knock him of and he would win the game no problem so by moving myself into a position that made a second move impossible was smarter but we didn’t know if that was legal.
My understanding has always been that if a move is possible, then you must make it, even if you don't want to, and it will spoil your game plan.
